A five-year-old boy has tragically died after being involved in a fatal car accident, as a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The horrific accident took place yesterday afternoon around 4:55pm, in Beeston, Leeds.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene and rushed the young boy to hospital but were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The horrific accident involved a black Nissan and a man has now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody as their investigations continue.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses and in a statement, West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision involving a child in Leeds.
“A five-year-old boy was involved in a collision with a black Nissan Note in Back Camberley Street, Beeston, at about 4.55pm yesterday.
“He was taken to hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later. A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.
“Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with relevant dashcam footage or CCTV of the incident or the movements of the child or the black Nissan Note prior to or after the collision.”
